How to play

The basics, in four steps

The app has a full interactive walkthrough built in — this is the short version.

1

The deal

Four players, one 52-card deck, thirteen cards each. Spades are always trump — the suit that beats every other suit.

2

The bid

Before a single card is played, call how many of the thirteen tricks you think you can win. Aces, kings, and a long spade suit make a hand strong.

3

Follow suit

Whoever leads sets the suit for that trick. Follow it if you can; if you can't, play a spade to win it or throw off anything else.

4

Scoring

Make your bid exactly and bank it, plus a small bonus for every extra trick. Fall short, and you lose points equal to your whole bid.
